Comdex Fall
was one of the computer industry's largest trade shows and
was held in Las Vegas through November of 2003. It may return again
in future years but ultimately may be remembered as a show that grew
large and fast and died with the dot-com bubble. We've
attended the show every year from 1986 through 2003 and have covered it on our website since
1997!
We reminisce every year about the Comdex of the past -- originally
designed for computer dealers (COMputer Dealer EXhibition) the show peaked
in the mid 1990's but had become too large and less relevant in more recent years,
partially due to the show's focus, partially due to the internet, and
partly due to the convergence of consumer electronics. This led to
its demise (and reorganization).
Our
past Comdex pages are being revamped and will reappear here for
historical purposes at a later date.
CES or the Consumer Electronics Show is held in January also in
Las Vegas and we have attended this show off and on since the mid 1990's.
It is for the industry only and we find a different product mix at this
show though increasingly computer products are represented there.
The PMA show also sometimes held in Las Vegas during March is focused on
photography and imaging. We first attended this show in 2003 and
will be back in future years.
