Firewalls and Security FAQ
We have sold and supported Sonicwall TELE,
SOHO, and PRO series firewalls for many years. Generally they are
very trouble-free, but here are some common problems and solutions:
Cannot access the internet
- Check that the power light, WAN and LAN link lights are lit.
Restart the attached WAN device (DSL or Cable modem) first and wait 60
seconds, then power off then on the firewall. Note the amber
configuration light (typically a wrench icon) as it should come on
initially up to 60 seconds and then go off. If it does not go off,
there could be a problem with the power supply or the firmware could be
corrupt. Call for further assistance.
Lost your password
- The Sonicwall firmware will need to be cleared using a special reset
procedure, losing all settings and setup. Please call for
assistance.
Firmware is corrupt
- Indication is usually the amber configuration light comes on and does
not go off. The firmware reset procedure will need to be invoked and
a new firmware file loaded. Please call for assistance.
